National Sanitation Quality Award (PNQS)
2022
Five of our concessionaires were recognized in the award promoted by the Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (Abes) in 2022, in the category “The Best in Environmental Sanitation Management (AMEGSA)”: Águas do Paraíba (Quiron Platinum ESG Trophy – Level III); Águas de Pará de Minas (Quiron Gold Trophy – Level II); Águas de Niterói (Silver Chiron Trophy – Level II). Águas de Juturnaíba and Águas de Nova Friburgo (Level II and Level I finalists, respectively, Classic AMEGSA).
2023
Our concessionaires Águas de Nova Friburgo, Águas de Juturnaíba, Águas de Niterói and Águas de Pará de Minas were announced, on October 20, as winners of the 2023 National Sanitation Quality Award (PNQS), promoted by the Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (Abes), in the category The Best in Environmental Sanitation Management (AMEGSA), in the ESG model. The event was broadcast on Abes’ YouTube channel and brought together several sanitation companies in the country. The initiative is led by the corporate Sustainability department and by the concessionaries.
ABES ESG Index Certification
The ABES ESG Index is an instrument that allows measuring and signaling to the market, on a scale from D- to A+, the individual and integrated performance of all ESG actions of organizations operating in environmental sanitation.
ESG 2.0 requirements cover topics such as carbon neutralization, promotion of responsible consumption, application of social tariffs for eligible consumers, female participation in management/board positions, assessment of working conditions of outsourced workers and suppliers, guarantee of water supply and sewage collection in concession areas, adherence to good governance codes, sustainable debt, among others.
2022
Águas do Brasil received the A- (good) concept in the ABES ESG Index, a certificate awarded to organizations in the environmental sanitation sector committed to the best environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. The ABES ESG Index uses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the base structure for obtaining certification. The Group was the first company in the industry to receive recognition.
2023
In 2023, the Group raised its grade (A-) to the excellent level in the ABES ESG Index rating, despite the more rigorous methodology, it showed improvements in all numerical grades, reflecting the evolution in the ESG agenda. There was also a significant evolution in the presentation of indicators, going from 46% in 2022 to 95% in 2023.
GPTW Certification
For the second consecutive year, Águas do Brasil was certified as one of the best places to work in Brazil, according to the global consultancy Great Place to Work (GPTW). The final grade was 82, representing 7 points more than in 2021.
Cases of Success & Innovation and Technology – Instituto Trata Brasil
Águas do Paraíba and the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes received recognition promoted by the Trata Brasil Institute in the Sanitary Sewage category. The award evaluated the 100 largest Brazilian municipalities present in the Sanitation Ranking.
Instituto Trata Brasil Ranking
Niterói, Petrópolis and Campos dos Goytacazes occupied the first three places in the Ranking Trata Brasil 2022 in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In the 2023 national Ranking, Niterói was listed as the fourth best city in Brazil in terms of sanitation.
Innovative Company
We were elected as one of the 100 most innovative in IT companies in Brazil, in the 22nd edition of the IT Forum Itaqui, held by IT Mídia.
ABNT NBR ISO 37001, ABNT NBR ISO 37002 and ABNT NBR ISO 37301 Certifications
Our holding was the first company in Brazil to achieve the ABNT NBR ISO 37002 certification, which deals with the Complaints Management System and certifies that our channel has the highest level of trust and impartiality.
Highlighting all the efforts applied to maintaining topics related to ethics and integrity, we also went through the process of recertifying the ABNT NBR ISO 37001 and certification of the ABNT NBR ISO 37301, which deal with the Anti-Bribery Management System and the Compliance Management, respectively, with certificates issued in February 2023.
ABNT NBR ISO 14001 Certification
2022
We went through the ABNT NBR ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System certification process (achieved in January 2023) for the SAAB, SAAL and Águas de Niterói units. This standard specifies the requirements of the Environmental Management System and allows the development of a structure for environmental protection and rapid response to changing environmental conditions.
2023
The Águas do Brasil Group achieved certification in the ABNT NBR ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management Systems (SGA) standard. The certification is part of the Group's ESG strategy and strengthens the company's culture of environmental responsibility, proving its values and commitment to the environment.
Companies that Best Communicate with Journalists Award
The Group's Communication area received the award in the Sanitation category for the eighth consecutive year, resulting from a survey of 25,000 journalists from all over Brazil. The award aims to recognize the quality of the relationship with journalists and the market and highlight the level of treatment given to press professionals.
Overview of the Private Sector Participation in Sanitation - 2022
The projects were highlighted in the ninth edition of the Overview of the Private Sector Participation in Sanitation as successful examples in the country. The Group stood out with its Fluid system, an initiative of the Água de Valor Program. Rio+Saneamento was recognized for its expansion of private participation and job creation. The concessionaires Águas de Juturnaíba (Revivendo Águas Claras and regional operations), Águas das Agulhas Negras, Águas de Pará de Minas, Águas de Jahu and Águas do Imperador (Programa Trata Óleo) were also highlighted at the overview.
Environmentally Friendly Company
Águas de Pará de Minas received the title of Environmentally Friendly Company from the City Council due to the basic sanitation rates in the city and the Olhar Ambiental, Trata Óleo and Águas Eternas programs. This recognition is given annually to people and institutions that stand out in environmental preservation.
Culture Friendly Company
Águas de Nova Friburgo received the Empresa Amiga da Cultura certificate, an honor granted by the City Hall to praise companies that encourage the sector in the municipality.
Prosegh - Água de Valor/ Projeto de Água de Reúso
Three concessionaires of the Águas do Brasil Group received the Prosegh Award at SaneaRio 2023 – State Sanitation and Environment Seminar, from the Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (Abes). Águas de Niterói was awarded for its program to prevent water losses, Água de Valor, with its work in the Ilha da Conceição neighborhood, reducing water loss from 62% to 15%. Rio+Saneamento was also recognized for extending the Água de Valor program in Itaguaí. The concessionaire Zona Oeste Mais Saneamento was awarded for its work with reused water from sewage treatment.
'ESG Success Stories' Award
The concessionaires Águas de Niterói and Águas do Imperador, from Águas do Brasil Group, as well as the municipalities of Niterói and Petrópolis, received the 'ESG Success Stories' award, from Instituto Trata Brasil, in the categories 'Best Evolutions in the Sanitation Ranking ' and 'Best Evolution in Water Loss', respectively. The Executive of Águas de Niterói, Bernardo Gonçalves, and of Águas do Imperador, João Henrique Tebyriçá de Sá, participated in the ceremony, held at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), in São Paulo.
Gold Medal – Brazilian GHG Protocol Program
The Águas do Brasil Group was certified, on October 24, with the Gold Medal of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program. The medal certifies the corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory at the highest level of qualification, demonstrating the Group's commitment to transparency and sustainability.
GRI Infra Awards 2023
The Águas do Brasil Group had its three finalist projects awarded at the GRI Infra Awards 2023 - an annual event celebrating programs, projects and actions in the transport, energy, basic sanitation, urban and social infrastructure, and environmental assets sectors. The award ceremony took place on October 26, in São Paulo. The GRI Club rewards the projects that stood out the most in each real estate segment, the projects with the most significant social impact, most adherent to ESG practices, and the companies responsible for the transaction of the year.
TOP 100 Open Corps 2023 Award
The Águas do Brasil Group stood out in the Sanitation, Waste Management and Infrastructure Ranking of the Top 100 Open Corps 2023, which recognizing corporations that maintain a good relationship with startups, enhancing innovation.
